About Maple
Maple is a female pygmy hippo calf born at the Toronto Zoo — Canada's only pygmy hippo calf, and one of just three pygmy hippos in the country alongside her parents Kindia and Harvey. She truly is Canada's baby.
Sweet, spirited and sassy, her name celebrates the place she was born and the country that has embraced her. Like the maple leaf itself, she stands for something uniquely Canadian: beloved, resilient and shared by us all.
For now she's bonding with mom behind the scenes in Little Hippo Hollow — so the herd brought her onchain.
